Opened in 2021, as a self-funded restaurant, which makes it possible for the owners, Rudy and Pedro, to maintain the highest standards in food preparation, service, & ambiance.
Their desire is to share a new ideology with the community, inspiring others to create sustainable businesses that can succeed without the need for investors or outside funding.
Now you can enjoy their new outdoor patio and their famous grill.
Chef Rudy holds a deep appreciation for the beauty & diversity in the natural world. What began as a passion for simply creating led him to explore elements of color, texture, & taste in the kitchen. He began his culinary training at the age of 16, spending four years working at Michelin Star restaurants in France & graduating from the culinary school with a hunger to share his knowledge, passion, & love for food.
He quickly fell in love with the lifestyle in Venice, the surf/skate culture, creativity, & being surrounded by all kinds of people from different backgrounds. He saw the diversity & culture of this community as a gift. He knew it was the kind of world he wanted to live in. It was also in Venice Beach where he met his co-founder, Pedro, connecting over our shared vision for Le Great Outdoor.
Born in São Paulo, Pedro grew up in the heart of the Brazilian skateboard culture & was raised by one of the biggest names in the industry.
This deeply influenced the way he would move through the world, giving him a unique zest for life, creativity, & freedom. After graduating from PUC in São Paulo with his business degree, Pedro moved to California. He was trained by some of the biggest names in LA, such as Julian Cox & Nick Myers, eventually helping develop the cocktail menu at The Rose Venice.
